In 2016 Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme produced and co-wrote Iggy Pop's Post Pop Depression album. The record also featured the band's guitarist Dean Fertita. This eerie funk rocker is a leftover from those sessions. Homme told Mojo: "We just felt we had enough songs (done) in enough time, it didn't ever get fully formed. In fact, Iggy wrote the lyrics, 'feet don't fail me now'. So I said, 'Is it cool that I use that song and take that lyric?' He was like, 'Go for Broke.'"
This is the opening track of Villains and is one of several songs on the album intended to get the listener up on their feet. Homme told The Sun: "We want you to dance. We like taking people's hands and being swept away."
