After a rocky four years that included a lupus-related kidney transplant and an emotional breakdown, Selena Gomez finally felt ready to move on. This sultry club cut finds her celebrating her restored health during a night out. I kickstart the rhythm All the trauma's in remission No, I don't need permission Feels so, feels so, feels so good to dance again Gomez explained about "Dance Again" during an album release event: "You can be vulnerable and have all of these feelings, but now I'm ready to kind of just let loose. It's kind of cheesy, but I got my step back."
Speaking to ET's Nischelle Turner, Gomez explained "Dance Again" is about getting her groove back after challenging times. "That song makes me feel like I got my step back, and I feel like alright, I'm back in the game a bit," she said, adding that "the whole objective of the album is self-love and acceptance."
Swedish duo Mattman & Robin produced the song. They previously collaborated with Gomez on her "Hands To Myself" and "Lose You to Love Me" singles.
