Beastie Boys succeeded in making some noise with this first single from their eighth studio album, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, which ended up being their last, as MCA died from cancer the following year. The track finds the trio spitting rhymes about parties on the left and right over brash instrumentation including some cowbell. The whole package is reminiscent of the Beasties' '80s material, such as their anthem "Fight For Your Right To Party."
Ad-Rock cites this as one of his favorites. He wrote in the Beastie Boys Book: "The thing about 'Make Some Noise' is the track. It's kind of like what I wanted our instrumentals to sound like, but maybe never really achieved. Hard-driving funk."
The album liner notes state, "'Make Some Noise' contains material from 'I'm Suped (Got It Like That)' performed by Pump, Ohio Sounds Records." If you can't find "I'm Suped," that's because it doesn't exist. The Beastie Boys listed fake samples on the Hot Sauce Committee Part Two album because they thought it would be fun.
