The Against Me! frontwoman Laura Jane Grace was formerly known as Tom Gabel. She remained married to her wife, visual artist Heather Hannoura, following her transition. The singer told NME: "This song is about my wife and feeling that even if someone's love is unconditional, I still have to be good on my own. You have to save yourself."
