This Dr. Luke-produced track has mid-tempo verses in which the boys recount a lost love from "summer '09." The chorus is a different creature entirely with a stomp that has been compared to Queen's signature hit, "We Will Rock You." The American producer told MTV News: "It's a song that some of my writers came up with. I heard it and I loved it. One of my producers, Kojak, and Peter Svensson and Sam Hollander wrote this song, and I was like, 'Wow, this is so good.' I'm pleased to be a part of it. It's nice when you hear music and you immediately like it."
One Direction's vocals were recorded in England for Dr. Luke by one of his producer/songwriters, Emily Wright.
Zayn Malik switched the lyrics of this song to "F--k Me" during a performance in Sydney, Australia.
