Chill Bill (feat. J. Davi$ & Spooks)

Rob $tone is a San Diego rapper and RCA Records signee. This track was inspired by a failed robbery attempt back in 2014 when Rob $tone and a friend found themselves in the back of a police cruiser. "They thought we was 'bout to rob this house," disclosed $tone to HipHopDX. "We was going to, but it was a different house. I didn't learn right away. It definitely woke me up like yo, nigga, I need to chill." Soon afterwards, one of $tone's closest homies, J.Davi$, played him a beat produced by Purpdogg, which sampled an eerie melodic whistle by Bernard Herrmann. First used as the theme song for the 1968 British psychological thriller Twisted Nerve, you may recognize it from a famous scene in Quentin Tarantino's 2003 martial arts epic Kill Bill Volume 1 where an assassin whistles the tune on her way to kill Uma Thurman's character.

Rob $tone, J Davi$ and Spooks each laid down a verse. $tone explained in a Genius attribution: "This song came from the relief of being let go from the police. We had a little altercation with the police and we were let go. I was frustrated because I knew we weren't doing anything. They were just wasting my time. Right after we were let go we went to Spooks' house and J. Davis put on the beat and we started writing to it."

$ttone also croons the hook. He explained: "My verse and the hook were all one verse originally, but after we recorded all of our parts, Spooks, Davis and our engineer convinced me to add the second part of my verse back to the song and to make it the hook. Girls try come around because they're pretty and try to smoke up all the weed. Weed costs money, at least bring the Dutches or Backwoods. Bring something. There ain't no exceptions to this."
