Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Is This The World We Created...? - Live. By Songfacts®.

At face value, this pre-Live Aid song is about third-world poverty and the huge imbalances between rich and poor. However, Queen songs often come in clever pairs, best listened to in the order on the album. This song follows "Hammer To Fall," which is about a nuclear apocalypse and ends with a loud bang. The second song laments "the world we devastated, right to the bone."

This is often the forgotten song of Queen's Live Aid performance: everyone remembers their six-song main set which catapulted them to fame, but it's easy to forget that Brian May and Freddie Mercury came out later into the evening to perform this song as a duo, before joining in on the final ensemble performance of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" to close the show, featuring most of the artists who had performed on the London stage as well as Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, who had organized and curated the show.
