"Not Yet" finds Brett Young describing a night of passion with a new love interest. He released the sexy ode on April 23, 2021. While some of Young's previous singles such as "Catch," and "Lady" were inspired by his relationship with his wife Taylor, this is more of a generic love song.

Young wrote "Not Yet" with Nashville songwriters Justin Ebach and Kelly Archer. The singer previously collaborated with Ebach and Archer on his 2016 breakthrough single "Sleep Without You."
