SWMRS, pronounced "swimmers," is a California punk rock band comprising vocalist Cole Becker, guitarist Max Becker, bassist Seb Mueller and drummer Joey Armstrong, whose father is Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. Cole Becker and Joey Armstrong originally formed the band in 2004 after watching the film School of Rock together in school.
This is a song from their fourth studio album. Berkeley's on Fire. It was inspired by an incident on April 23, 2017, when SWMRS were playing a show at Walter’s Downtown, a small venue in Houston’s warehouse district. Max Becker explained to Kerrang: "We had been playing in Houston, and this train car spontaneously combusted down the street. We went over to it and it just sparked this riff. Everything about this song is polarizing, from the lyrics to the guitar part, yet the song is super happy and euphoric."
