Merseybeat

Merseybeat is a style of popular music that originated in Liverpool, England in the early 1960s. It is characterized by a strong backbeat, simple chord progressions, and catchy melodies. It was heavily influenced by American rock and roll, and was popularized by bands such as The Beatles, Gerry and the Pacemakers, and The Searchers. Merseybeat is often seen as a precursor to the British Invasion of the mid-1960s.
