Swedish Synthpop

Swedish Synthpop is a genre of electronic music that originated in Sweden in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It is characterized by its use of synthesizers and drum machines, as well as its melodic, often melancholic sound. It is heavily influenced by the New Wave and Post-Punk genres, and often incorporates elements of Pop, Disco, and Funk. Swedish Synthpop is often associated with the bands ABBA, The Knife, and Robyn.
