Boston Punk is a style of punk rock music that originated in the Boston, Massachusetts area in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It is characterized by its aggressive, fast-paced sound and its DIY ethic. The genre is heavily influenced by the hardcore punk scene of the time, but also incorporates elements of garage rock, power pop, and new wave. Boston Punk bands often have a strong political and social message, and many of the bands are associated with the Straight Edge movement.
