Renaissance

Renaissance music is a style of European music from the period of the Renaissance, roughly 1400-1600. It is characterized by its use of polyphony, or multiple voices, and its use of imitation, where one voice will imitate the melody of another. It is also known for its use of modal scales, which are scales that are based on the modes of the church. Renaissance music is often seen as the bridge between the medieval and baroque periods of music.
