Mexican Metal

Mexican Metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music that originated in Mexico in the late 1980s. It is characterized by its aggressive sound, often featuring distorted guitars, double bass drumming, and growled vocals. It is heavily influenced by thrash metal, death metal, and black metal, as well as traditional Mexican music. Mexican Metal bands often incorporate traditional Mexican instruments such as the vihuela, guitarron, and jarana into their sound. The genre has become increasingly popular in recent years, with bands such as Brujeria, Maldito, and Here Comes the Kraken gaining international recognition.
