Japanese Post-Hardcore is a subgenre of post-hardcore music that originated in Japan in the late 1990s. It is characterized by its heavy, distorted guitar riffs, screamed vocals, and intense drumming. The genre is heavily influenced by American post-hardcore, but also incorporates elements of Japanese punk, metal, and noise rock. The lyrics often focus on themes of alienation, despair, and social issues. Japanese Post-Hardcore is often seen as a more extreme version of post-hardcore, and is often associated with the visual kei movement.
