Tex-Mex

Tex-Mex is a genre of music that combines traditional Mexican music with elements of American country and western, rock and roll, and blues. It originated in the border region between Texas and Mexico in the 1940s and 1950s. It is characterized by its use of accordion, electric guitar, and drums, as well as its incorporation of traditional Mexican instruments such as the jarana and the bajo sexto. Tex-Mex music is often upbeat and danceable, and its lyrics often focus on themes of love, heartbreak, and nostalgia.
