Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are a Belgian–Greek DJ duo comprising brothers Dimitri Thivaios and Michael Thivaios. This song's journey began with a bootleg by the siblings for their Ushuaïa Ibiza shows. Teaming up with Dutch DJ duo W&W, they transformed Dido's 1998 hit "Thank You" into a stadium-worthy anthem, electrifying crowds at their shows. Then Dido herself stepped in. She re-recorded her vocals for the first verse of "Thank You" after her management saw the viral clips of the song on social media.
Several artists have sampled Dido's "Thank You" before. Most famously, Eminem used Dido's first verse as the hook in his 2000 single "Stan." That song was a huge hit and is considered one of Eminem's best cuts. It also boosted Dido's popularity in the US. Sixteen years later, Dido was credited as a writer on Rihanna's Anti track "Never Ending" because of a similarity in its melody to "Thank You."
Released on December 1, 2023, "Thank You (Not So Bad)" debuted at #74 on the UK Singles chart dated February 11, 2024. It was Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike's second entry on the tally, following their 2014 collaboration with Martin Garrix, "Tremor (Sensation 2014 Anthem)," which peaked at #30. It also became Dido's first song to place on the main UK singles chart since "No Freedom" reached #51 in 2013.
