Backin' It Up (feat. Cardi B)

Jordan Thorpe is a New York rapper and songwriter known professionally as Pardison Fontaine. As a songwriter, he is best known for his work with Kanye West. He wrote most of the Ye track "Violent Crimes" and also contributed to "Ghost Town," "Yikes," "All Mine" and "Wouldn't Leave" on the album.

After producer J Louis played the song's beat to Fontaine, the rapper started working on the hook. Once he came up with the "backin' it up" concept, he then started working on the verses. The song's message is about how hard it to be a girl in an age where so many men treat them badly. Back, back-backin' it up I'm the king of talkin' s--t, then backin' it up Pardison explained the lyric to Genius: "When you're in texts with a girl, you might send her something or you might be like, 'Naw, I'ma destroy you. I'ma do this. I'ma have your feet up,' you know what I'm sayin'? So that's the talking s--t, but then when you get in there, you gotta back it up. That's where I was going with that. You do what you say, you know what I'm sayin'? Gotta be that same person."

After penning the hook and his verse, Fontaine asked Cardi B to knock out a verse. Even though she was pregnant at the time, Cardi came up with the goods.
