Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Something in the Orange - Z&E's Version. By Songfacts®.

Oklahoma born and bred singer-songwriter Zach Bryan started uploading his rootsy country music to YouTube in 2017. He released two independent albums while serving in the United States Navy before inking a deal with Warner Records via his Belting Broncos imprint. Released on April 22, 2022, this love-struck song became his first Hot 100 hit when it debuted the following week at #55.

The song finds Bryan lamenting a doomed relationship. His lover has left him and the singer desperately misses her. He hopes against hope that this isn't the end, but "somethin' in the orange" tells Bryan she's never coming home.

There are two versions of "Something in the Orange." Ryan Hadlock produced and mixed the original at Bear Creek Studio in Washington State, and Bryan recorded the "Z&E" version at Electric Lady Studios in New York City with longtime producer Eddie Spear. "Z&E," which stands for Zach & Eddie, is a stripped-down piano interpretation.
