Blackpink writers and producers Teddy Park, Bekuh Boom, R. Tee, 24 and Vince penned the song. Teddy Park also produced the track, building it around a leisurely horn loop.

Lisa released this as a debut solo single, alongside "Lalisa." She told Billboard that as soon as Teddy Park played her the demo, she wanted it as her first solo song.
