We Never Change

This song is about wanting something that's so simple, yet very hard to get. When Chris Martin sings, "I want to live life," he is reflecting on the challenges of life that can seem overwhelming.

"We Never Change" is the penultimate song on Coldplay's hugely popular debut studio album, Parachutes. It won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 2002 and has since sold over 13 million copies around the globe. Despite its monumental success, however, Martin feels the album is far from their best work. At a press conference in 2006, he said: "We know that's terrible music, and we always try to think about what we can do next."
