This is a track from North Carolina rapper J Cole's debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, which was released on September 27, 2011 under Roc Nation. Cole added the subtitle, "The Sideline Story," to the title as after being signed to Jay-Z's label and waited for his debut release to be dropped, he felt like someone being on the sidelines for their favorite basketball team.
The song contains an interpolation of "The World Is a Place," a 1976 track performed by the soul group Rhythm.
The Cole World: World Tour began on August 23, 2011 in Vancouver. The song's music video shows shots of Cole on stage in a variety of different locations as well as his touring lifestyle.
