After wrapping Love On Tour in July 2023 - a 169-show, nearly two-year run that became one of the highest-grossing tours in history - Harry Styles took an almost three-year break from music and public life. "At the end of the tour, the idea of taking time out felt insane," he told The London Sunday Times in February 2026. "I didn't know if I could do it, but it was the right time for me. We'd finished the tour in July, and I was turning 30 in February. It was time for me to stop for a bit and pay some attention to other parts of my life." He spent much of that time in Italy, was present for the birth of his sister Gemma's daughter in 2024, and, crucially, confronted a fear he had long carried. "I always believed, or hoped, that I was the type of person who didn't require the rush of adrenaline that this job often provides," he said. "However, I hadn't truly distanced myself from it, and it's tough to shake the fear that if it all vanished, I would genuinely miss it. That's always been a concern for me." Styles told British radio he wanted to spend real time in each city rather than waking up on a tour bus not knowing where he was. That was what it was for me, I felt like I was coming back as like a stronger version of myself."
