The Turning

Noel Gallagher wrote this. He described it to Q magazine October 2008 as "The (Stone) Roses doing The Stooges with a nod to The World Of Twist. RIP Tony O." Gallagher is referring to the tragic death of World Of Twist drummer Tony Ogden who died of unknown causes in July 2006.

This ends with the opening lines of "Dear Prudence" by The Beatles. The Beatles have been a major source of inspiration to Oasis.

This song is a mixture of hope and disillusionment. Says Noel Gallagher on Oasis's official website: "I think the world is at a critical point; like an elastic band, where it's either going to snap, or people are going to come to their senses. There are only extremes. And 'The Turning' is kind of about what hope do we have of recovering; what hope do we have of getting this back?"
