"X" is a Latin-pop crossover in which the Jonas Brothers collaborate with Colombian reggaeton singer Karol G. The sultry dance number finds the sibling trio flirting with a girl on the dance floor. Watchin' her move, I was lost in the rhythms Then she pulled me close by the look in her eyes Don't know her name, but I know that I need her She said, "Boy, you won't be lonely tonight" Karol G brings a fiery Spanish verse in the song's back half. She is feeling hot and wants to dance all night, soft and wild like an animal.
This marks the second time the Jonas Brothers have teamed up with a Latin act, following their 2019 single "Runaway" with Colombian singer Sebastián Yatra, Puerto Rican artist Daddy Yankee, and Dominican songstress Natti Natasha.
The Jonas Brothers and Karol G wrote the song with: US songwriter Ali Tamposi (Camilla Cabello's "Havana," Dua Lipa's "Break My Heart"). Swedish producer Shellback, who previously collaborated with The Jonas Brothers on their "Only Human" single.
