Here, DJ Khaled links up with frequent collaborators Drake and Lil Baby. "Staying Alive" begins with the chorus where an Auto-Tuned Drake interpolates the 1977 Bee Gees disco classic of the same name. He uses it to clap back at all the naysayers who doubted him on his come up. Drake then takes on the first verse before passing the baton to Lil Baby. Both artists talk about women and the changes in their relationships with them now they're living lavish lifestyles.
The song continues Khalid's long list of collaborations with Drake. They include "Fed Up," "I'm On One," "No New Friends," "Summer Sixteen," "For Free," and "To The Max." "Staying Alive" is the fourth collaboration between DJ Khaled and Lil Baby, following "You Stay," "Weather The Storm," and "Every Chance I Get." However, this marks the first time the music mogul has dropped a track with both Drake and Lil Baby spitting bars.
Khaled, Drake and Lil Baby wrote "Staying Alive" with the track's producers, Nyan and Tim Suby. Barry Gibb, Maurice Gibb and Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees also get credited as lyricists. Nyan and Suby also co-produced Drake's Honestly, Nevermind track "Liability."
