Never Forget

Written by Gary Barlow, "Never Forget" features Howard Donald on lead vocal, with additional singing from Robbie Williams. The song is about Take That celebrating their roots and remaining grounded in the face of success. "Never Forget" is also a comment on the fleeting nature of fame, with the song taking on an extra significance given the fact it came out a few days after Williams quit Take That to pursue a solo career. Speaking as part of the DVD release of his Since I Saw You Last Tour in 2014, Barlow commented: "'Never Forget' is one of those songs that I hardly remember writing, but it's meant so much for so long for us. It's sort of ingrained into what we believe in and how we view what we do. 'Never Forget' is a really important song."

The single version of "Never Forget" features more cinematic instrumentation than the album version. This remix was courtesy of Jim Steinman, most famous for producing Meat Loaf's best-selling album Bat Out of Hell. Steinman's version opens with an excerpt from Giuseppe Verdi's "Requiem" alongside a children's choir. It also incorporates handclaps and gospel singers, among other theatrical elements. In a video posted to social media paying tribute to Steinman following his death in April 2021, Barlow said: "My demo was stripped-back, mid-tempo, it plodded along, but you came in and added all the punctuation and drama that track needed to make it the hit it became, and to this day, we still finish our concerts with that song. And from this point, when we do, I'll be thinking of you."

"Never Forget" was Take That's seventh #1 in the UK. It remained at the top of the chart for three weeks and has since gone on to sell over 600,000 copies. "Never Forget" also peaked at #1 in Spain, Ireland, and Lithuania.
