The Lotus album contains tracks full of songs with meaning, something she's consciously steered toward since her Stripped album. Speaking at the Billboard/Hollywood Reporter Film & TV Conference on October 25, 2012, Aguilera said: "I'm a message girl at the end of the day. Songs like 'Beautiful,' songs like 'Fighter.' They're very introverted and can be very vulnerable but empowering. I was tired of singing about fluff and candy and Genie In a Bottle."
