This song was written by Gillian Welch and her musical partner Dave Rawlings. It was originally recorded by the Bluegrass singer-songwriter on her 2003 album Soul Journey. Lambert previously covered another Welch/Rawlings track "Dry Town," on her second album, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
The song's protagonist admits she "wants to do right but not right now." Instead, she wants to live her own life and make her own mistakes before finally settling down.
