Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Every Light In The House. By Songfacts®.

This was the second single Trace Adkins released, following There's a Girl in Texas. One of his most popular songs, it tells the story of a breakup where he tells his girl he'll leave a light on for her in case she ever comes back. He wants her back so bad that he turns on every light, figuring he'll start turning them off when he starts getting over her, which he never does.

This song was written by the Nashville songwriter Kent Robbins, who in 1997 died in a car accident at age 50. Robbins also wrote the Gary Allen song "Her Man" and The Judds song "Young Love (Strong Love)."

Adkins says he loves to do this song, but vocally, it's his hardest one to sing.
