Blessings

American Contemporary Christian music singer/songwriter Laura Story began her career in 1996 when she met Shane Williams, from the band Silers Bald, at Columbia International University. Williams asked Story to join the group and she became their bass player. In 2002, Story left Silers Bald and released her first solo album, Indescribable several months down the line. A couple of years later, she achieved a big break when the title track of her album was recorded by Chris Tomlin peaked at #2 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs. In 2006, Story signed a record contract with INO Records. This is the title track and lead single from her second major label album, which was recorded in Georgia at Chris Tomlin's studio and produced by Nathan Nockels (Passion, Philips, Craig & Dean, Point of Grace).

Amidst all of Story's successes she experienced a time of turmoil when a brain tumor hospitalized her husband in 2006 and took her on a traumatic ride. This song finds her singing about her faith, where being put through the unexpected fires of fear and loneliness helped her to view God's blessings in a different way. "The song shows that we still have more questions than answers," Laura confessed. "But there's a decision that I find God is asking us to make: whether we're going to judge God based on our circumstances, or whether we are going to choose to interpret our circumstances based on what we hold to be true about God." She concluded, "people ask how we're doing, and I like to say: 'We have a faithful God.' Every promise he's kept, every need he's met."

This was named Song of the Year at the 2012 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards. Story also won Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year at the same ceremony.
