Written by Nashville-based songwriter and record executive Tim DuBois, this satirical track tells the story of a messy divorce that ends in favor of the wife and leaves the husband "workin' two shifts eatin' baloney." The song went to #1 on the country chart and landed at #57 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Reed actually had a long marriage to fellow country singer Priscilla "Prissy" Mitchell, from 1959 until Reed's death in 2008.
This was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance but lost to Willie Nelson's "Always On My Mind."
