One of Avenged Sevenfold's early songs, "Radiant Eclipse" can be understood either as about dying or being betrayed by a friend. It starts with the lines: Two nights ago I was shot A bullet sunk straight through my soul A friend pulled the trigger that silenced me Later in the song, be wonder if the singer is now dead for real: I watch my mother shed tears And taste the blood that she cries We have A7X frontman M. Shadows to thank for these rather visceral lyrics.
The song is part of Waking The Fallen, the second Avenged Sevenfold album, released in 2003. It runs 6:10 and is a great indication of their metal-punk fusion, with savage drumming by The Rev, who sadly passed away in 2009. The band broke out with their next album, City Of Evil in 2005, which includes the song "Bat Country."
