The second single from Example's The Evolution Of Man album was penned by the singer/rapper with producer Alex Smith, whose other credits include Olly Murs' #1 hit "Heart Skips a Beat." The song was premiered at the iTunes Festival 2012 on September 17, 2012 and released in the UK on November 11, 2012.
Speaking with Digital Spy in September 2012, Example admitted he didn't originally write this song with himself in mind. He explained: "I was in a writing session about six months ago and I wrote 'Chasing The Sun' on the Monday - I didn't realise it would be for The Wanted at that time - and 'Close Enemies' on the Tuesday. I didn't know who it was going to be for. I was just writing big pop songs for whoever. I liked it so much, I just tweaked the lyrics to make it suit me, but originally I imagined it suiting someone like Rihanna."
