Cardi first previewed the song in an Instagram video posted back in December 2018. It was finally released on May 31, 2019.

The track was produced by: Detroit beatmaker Key Wane, who has worked extensively with Big Sean in the past, including the tracks "Guap" and "Beware". Other songs he's produced include Drake's "All Me" and Beyonce's "Yoncé/Partition." Atlanta producer Slade da Monsta who has provided the instrumentation for songs by such artists as Lil Uzi Vert ("Super Saiyan") and PnB Rock ("Misunderstood").
