This yodeling hit for Whitman was originally written in 1924 for the musical comedy Rose Marie. The lyrics were co-written by a young Oscar Hammerstein.

In the 1996 movie Mars Attacks!, this song was used prominently where it used as a weapon to counter the invading Martians.

Slim Whitman was the first left-handed guitarist to top the UK chart, doing so many years before Paul McCartney and Jimi Hendrix joined that select category. Slim couldn't play it any other way because he had lost part of a finger.
