Freedom Child

This track tackles the topic of terrorism. It was inspired by a question from The Script guitarist Mark Sheehan's seven-year-old son. Sheehan told The Sun: "That song started because my son came home from school one day after practicing drills in case of a terrorist attack. He asked me: 'What is terrorism?' and it really shocked me. I wasn't expecting it but I guess it's the norm now."

The song is one of several on the Freedom Child album influenced by current affairs. "Our freedom has been attacked," Sheehan told OfficialCharts.com regarding the need for a political slant to the record. "Our creative, sexual and religious freedoms have been under attack from different enemies and as a band we have to have a message about that. We are so bombarded by the negative you have to believe in the power of music to have meaning and to heal."
