When Liam Gallagher announced he was releasing his first Christmas song, many imagined it would be a rowdy ode to drinking. But rather than celebrating the merry tradition of over indulging on booze, the Oasis singer came up with a ballad about love and hope. Inspired by the COVID pandemic, he sings of love triumphing "when the world is at its worst."
The song first emerged in the summer of 2020 when Liam Gallagher put a spin on an idea created by his co-writer Simon Aldred ("For What It's Worth," "Now That I've Found You").
The track was subsequently produced by Gallagher's long-term collaborator Andrew Wyatt. The American co-wrote with Gallagher nine out of the 11 tracks on Why Me? Why Not including its lead single, "Shockwave."
