Pardi explained that his drinking is the "feel good, kind of like medication that you need."
Pardi wrote the song with Natalie Hemby and Barry Dean. They made the song upbeat with a catchy melody, so that it "picks you up when you're feeling down, or if you're feeling good, it makes you feel extra good."
According to a press release, the song channels George Strait's 1982 hit "Fool Hearted Memory" and is "something people can dance to."
