Nicki Minaj called on Atlanta-based singer Ciara to sing the hook on this female-empowerment anthem. "My fans had been asking me to work with her for a long time so I thought it'd be kinda cute," the Queens MC told The Boombox. "When I heard how she did the hook of the record," Minaj added, "It's like she nailed it so crazy and we had been listening to the reference track. We were afraid that whoever would end up singing it wouldn't really sing it exactly how we wanted it to sound, but she nailed it times 10."
Minaj references Barack Obama's comments about people not understanding how rap lyrics work, when she raps: "I graduate with honors, I'm Ball-nead O'Conner. I did a freestyle then I got a shout out from Obammer." The President made his remarks after Minaj appeared to be endorsing the Republican candidate, Mitt Romney in her guest appearance on Lil Wayne's song "Mercy," where she declared: "I'm a Republican, voting for Mitt Romney. You lazy bithces is f--kin' up the economy." Minaj clarified her intent when some media outlets took her verse literally. In endorsing Obama, she Tweeted: "Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do."
