Lil Wayne spoke to MTV News about working with West. He said: "'Ye is an innovator, so it's always a pleasure to be around someone so creative, because it drives you to be more or just as."
Director Spike Jonze helmed a 15-minute long-form video starring Kanye West, which featured this song. The title, We Were Once a Fairytale, is taken from the song's lyrics. West and Jonze previously collaborated on the singer's promo for "Flashing Lights."
