This two-part song is part of Deep Purple's Come Taste the Band album, the only one released with the Mark IV lineup of David Coverdale, Jon Lord, Ian Paice, Glenn Hughes and Tommy Bolin (Ritchie Blackmore had departed). "This Time Around" is a lament to a lost love sung by Hughes; "Owed to 'G'" is an instrumental piece.

Rock legend Jon Lord died July 16, 2012. At the Royal Albert Hall tribute concert held on April 4, 2014, this song was introduced and sung by former Deep Purple bass player Glenn Hughes who said it was the only one the two men ever wrote totally together, and that it was very special. Nearly 40 years on and at this celebration of Jon's life, it took on an entirely new meaning.
