Just Remember I Love You

In this song, the singer tries to offer encouragement to someone who sounds chronically depressed and hopeless, perhaps suicidal. "Just remember I love you, and it'll be all right," he says. People who are going through their worst times have been known to identify with the lyrics.

This was written by Firefall singer-guitarist Rick Roberts, who along with Larry Burnett was the main songwriter in the band. Firefall came together in Boulder, Colorado, where they started off backing Chris Hillman (of The Byrds), who had moved to the area. They started off as a rock band, but veered toward soft rock when they landed their first hit: "You Are the Woman," taken from their first album in 1976. That song was written by Rick Roberts, who followed it up with the similar sounding "Just Remember I Love You," which was the big hit from their second album, Luna Sea. "Once we started to have some hit records and he was making a lot of money from publishing, Rick wrote a lot of his songs as a formula, and he kept thinking about getting radio play," Firefall guitarist Jock Bartley said on the Songfacts Podcast. "He was writing formula kind of songs, and Larry Burnett wrote songs as the purging of his soul. So we had Ricky's upbeat stuff and Larry's darker stuff and hard rock and roll."
