Frontman Brett Anderson told Mojo June 2011 magazine despite his drug habit at the time, this song was not about smack but, "pornography and being unable to form relationships."
The song appears to be paying homage to Marilyn Monroe, but Anderson told the Suede.co.uk site in 2011: "The 'Marilyn' reference was never actually meant literally to Monroe but more as a kind of Venus/Aphrodite reference."
"She Walks in Beauty," the song's opening line, is the title of a poem by English romantic poet, Lord Bryon.
