Interesting facts and trivia about Fell In Love With The City. By Songfacts®.

Formed at London's art college Goldsmith's in the mid-2010s, art rock quartet Another Sky comprises vocalist Catrin Vincent, guitarist Jack Gilbert, bassist Naomi Le Dune, and drummer Max Doohan. This was the second song they wrote as a band.

Catrin Vincent was born in a small, middle class town in the middle of England. She grew up with few expectations beyond becoming a suburban housewife, and it didn't even occur to her she could pursue a career in music. This song details a transformative period where Vincent finds herself in a bigger, more cosmopolitan world and has new dreams for her life. She told Apple Music the lyrics combine teenage naivety and teenage passion: "There's that idea that you're going to move to a massive city and be someone and prove everyone wrong, but then you move to London where coffee costs £11 and you can't afford rent," she said. "It's a funny song for me because when I hear it I think: 'Poor Catrin. You really didn't know what was coming.'"

The album title alludes to an anxiety disorder Catrin Vincent suffered from in her teenage years. It made her feel so sick the only way she could get a proper night's sleep was to bed down on the bathroom floor.
