Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about The Great Big No. By Songfacts®.

"It's a song about disappointment and nothingness," Lemonheads leader Evan Dando said when discussing "The Great Big No" in a Songfacts interview. The song portrays a relationship that has petered out. "Is nothing okay with you?" Dando asks in the last line.

Dando wrote this with his frequent collaborator Tom Morgan. "That one started as a parody of a '70s song," he told Songfacts. "The beginning is making fun of some '70s tune. But then after a while, we started getting really into it and finished it."

Juliana Hatfield is the female vocalist on this track. She was the Lemonheads' bass player on their previous album, It's a Shame About Ray.
