This is a romantic hymn to the country of Israel. Morrissey explained to the London Sunday Times why he wrote the song: "I have made many trips there and I was given the keys to Tel Aviv by the mayor. Everybody was so very nice to me and I'm aware that there's a constant backlash against the country that I could never quite understand. I feel people are judging the country by its government, which you shouldn't do. You can't blame the people for the rulership. Israel is beautiful."

Morrissey is a cult star in Israel of huge proportions. In 2012 he was made a Freeman of the city of Tel Aviv.
