Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Head Games. By Songfacts®.

Like many of Foreigner's early hits, this one deals with a tumultuous relationship where the guy can't take it anymore. This couple clearly isn't communicating, and the psychological manipulations are taking their toll.

The Foreigner songwriting tandem of lead singer Lou Gramm and guitarist Mick Jones wrote this song. When we asked Gramm if there was a specific girl who inspired the song, he said: "It was through our imagination and probably our memories, too."

This was the title track to Foreigner's third album, and the second single released from the set, following "Dirty White Boy." The album cover was rather puerile, showing a frightened young lady backed against a urinal in a men's bathroom (Head=Toilet, get it?). Many retailers refused to stock the album, and some radio stations wouldn't play any songs from it, deeming the cover in poor taste. Responding to accusations of misogyny, the band often explained that they love women, and that many of their songs are actually very flattering toward ladies.
