Tom DeLonge (from the CD booklet): "A friend of ours told a story of when he was young and got asked to go to the prettiest girl in the high school's house. He rode his bike as fast as he could to get there, and she and her friend jumped out of the balcony and sprayed him with a hose. He rode home wet, sad, and humiliated."
The humiliated subject of the song, who relayed the story to blink-182 years later, was the album's producer, Jerry Finn. The story of his crush on the popular mean girl continues on the next track on the album, "All Of This."
Although the pop-punk band was changing direction with their fifth album, exploring darker themes and experimenting with unusual instruments, they retained Finn - who helmed their previous two albums, Enema Of The State and Take Off Your Pants And Jacket - as their producer. According to bassist Mark Hoppus, Finn provided many of the instruments they used on the album from his personal collection.
