Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about My Vow. By Songfacts®.

Black Veil Brides frontman Andy Biersack endured a difficult time following the band's 2014 eponymous album struggling with the touring cycle and personal matters. The experience woke him up and enabled him to change his lifestyle, giving up alcohol and drugs. This is the lead single from Vale, the first album recorded by Biersack sober.

Biersack told Kerrang about the song's meaning: "One of the things that clarity brings is perspective, and as I became sober, I was finding myself thinking a lot of the people around me aren't that great and don't want the best for me. Plus they're kind of sycophants and want me to fail (laughs)! These are not friends that I've held dear for many years, but ancillary people who I've spent limited time with, and I only ever got drunk with. It isn't a song directly about this person or that person screwing me over – it's more about the idea of promising myself I'm going to take back my life and time."
